Meet Some of Our Volunteers
Each year the Baldwin Trust gladly welcomes many new volunteers. In a survey undertaken at the end of 2022, 91% of our volunteers said they were 'fully satisfied' by their volunteering with the Trust. In this section, we’ll introduce you to just a few of our volunteers.
Hi. I’m Simon. I am one of the Trust’s skippers, but also volunteer as a crew member. I’m also involved with the team that maintains the boats as well.
I joined the Baldwin Trust because I was looking for an outdoor charity where I was not tied to any specific day(s). I enjoy chatting to people, so felt that the Trust fitted that nicely, as I get chance to meet both volunteers and guests on the boats.
I enjoy volunteering with the Baldwin Trust because I enjoy to company of the other volunteers and seeing the waterside wildlife as we hurtle past at 4mph.
When I moved to the area early in 2022, I began to enjoy canal and river walks. I found Dandelion moored near to the weir in Barrow and was immediately interested in the idea of volunteering. I knew it was a chance to meet new people, help others less able and best of all, do it on the water. Hurrah, it has delivered all those things and I hope I can continue to be a willing crew member for a long time yet.
Marion is a crew member with the Baldwin Trust.
I'm Hina. I was looking to volunteer with a local charity where I could be of value by using my skills from my career as a software technical lead. The Baldwin Trust is on my doorstep and their cause is something I can personally relate to.
Hina looks after the Trust’s Social Media outlets.
Hi, my name is Richard. When I retired, I was looking for a worthwhile and rewarding volunteering opportunity. I am a crew volunteer and find it gratifying and rewarding to see and feel the enjoyment guests derive from their trips with us.
I also am responsible for speaking with local media outlets on behalf of the Trust; this has resulted in a number of interviews and many written articles in various publications. It’s great to be able to tell the success story of the Baldwin Trust and encourage others to come and join us, take a trip, or even give money to support the charity.
