Their latest performance, “Out of this World”, takes place at 7.30pm on Friday 24^th and Saturday 25^th April 2020 in Thurnby Memorial Hall, Main Street, Thurnby, LE7 9PN.  Tickets are £8 and are obtainable from 0116 212 3180.  Bring your own glass, drinks and nibbles.”

Following on from yesterdays post, plans for our new boat include providing additional and improved equipment for our physically and mentally disadvantaged users, ?‍? sensory facilities and improved handling techniques to cater for the more severely disadvantaged clients ?‍? and hopefully, the use of more environmentally ♻️ friendly forms of power. 

We are also working hard to build up our links with local organisations and would like to increase our reach with new contacts with Dementia and Stroke Associations during the coming year. ?

Unfortunately, 2019 saw a severe downturn in our revenue due to the unprecedented amount of rainfall, ? causing the rivers and canals to be closed by the authorities. This resulted in us having to cancel many of the pre-booked cruises in the summer and autumn, which is our busiest time of the year. ?

Not only that, but The Trustees have made the very difficult decision to retire St Clare, our founding narrowboat, due to her age and repeated mechanical failures, leading to high repair costs and cancelled cruises. ❌

Therefore, we need to accelerate our fundraising in order to acquire our second new narrowboat. ? This will be built at the end of 2020, ready for the 2021 season, and will bring our fleet back up to three boats. This new boat will allow us to continue to provide a valuable recreational activity for the community and remove uncertainty from our operation as we strive for self-sufficiency in the future. ☺️
